The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2017-2026 says that the completed replenishment of cereal stocks by 230 million metric tonnes over the past decade, combined with abundant stocks of most other commodities, should also help limit growth in world prices, which are now almost back to their levels before the 2007-08 food price crisis. The  FAO Food Price Index , a monthly trade-weighted index tracking international market prices of five major food commodity groups, released today, averaged 175.2 points in June, up 1.4 percent from May and 7.0 percent from a year earlier. The FAO Cereal Price Index rose by 4.2 percent in the month, amid surging prices of high-protein wheat due to deteriorating crop conditions in the United States of America.
